There are still some spaces available for antique appraisals at Knutson Memorial Library’s annual fundraiser in Coon Valley, Sunday, Feb. 16.
This is the third year author and antiques expert Mark Moran has provided an afternoon of appraisals of such diverse items as oil paintings, carved wooden figures, children’s toys, vintage photographs, glassware, silver, folk art, furniture, and advertising memorabilia. Cost to have an item appraised is $5 per item, with a limit of two items per person in addition to a $10 admission charge. Call the library at 452-3757 or e-mail Karen at firstname.lastname@example.org/coonvalley to reserve a spot or to make sure the item is something Moran can appraise.
He will also make house visits; if people have many large items they would like appraised, they may consider this option. Call the library for more information.
In addition to the antique appraisals, the event is a social time. Wines will be provided this year by Branches Winery and there will be food provided by the library board and volunteers. There will be a Chinese raffle with many interesting baskets and other items donated by local businesses, artists and craftspeople.
Proceeds from this event are used by the library to fund items which cannot be covered by the yearly budgeted funds, such as computer updates and equipment or furnishings for the library. Last year the proceeds helped to pay for a much needed workroom remodel; this year, the library is planning to update computers to better serve patrons.
Knutson Memorial Library’s Antique Appraisal Event will take place on Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Coon Valley American Legion Hall. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., with appraisals beginning at 1 p.m.
