The assistant director in the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Office of Multicultural Student Services, Thomas Harris provides academic, social and cultural support to students of color.
He also advises leadership programs and oversees biannual training and the President's Roundtable for six multicultural student organizations.
He has received numerous community awards and founded various groups that demonstrate his commitment to diversity and helping others. A nomination letter explained Harris is "absolutely passionate and connected to creating an inclusive environment wherever he goes."
His greatest accomplishment in 2010 was coordinating a conference on issues of privilege and equality in La Crosse that drew more than 1,700 people from throughout the country.
