There are several reasons the city wants to horn in on regional ambulance service that has taken most of 30 years to perfect: There is serious money to be made by muscling into the business, regardless of the harm it will cause our neighbors in this region and a private business.
Pretending this move is anything other than a political power grab would be laughable were it not so morally corrupt and willfully damaging to the eventual health and safety of over three quarters of the population now served by the current ambulance system. All for a few bucks and the power to force annexation almost at will.
Feel free to support the city and it’s lowdown grab, but then hope you or someone you love doesn’t get sick or hurt outside the city limits. Personally, I think it is time for a recall or two at City Hall, new carpet or not.
