PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. Dorothy A. Becwar, 91, of Prairie du Chien died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Prairie Maison, Prairie du Chien. A private family graveside services will be in Calvary Cemetery, Prairie du Chien. There will be no visitation or public funeral. READSTOWN/VIOLA, Wis. Robert L. Brown, 81, of Readstown and formerly of Viola died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Wisconsin Home for Veterans, King, Wis. Arlene Rusty’ Ruth Conger
HOLMEN, Wis. Arlene R. Conger, 76, of Holmen, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at her home after a long courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 26, 1931, to Rudolph and Olga (Reinert) Schumacher. She married Bernard Conger in Palo Alto, Calif., on Oct. 17, 1953, and he preceded her in death Nov. 16, 2006. Arlene was a member of the ladies sewing circle at Lewis Valley Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time in the outdoors.
She is survived by her two sons, Clyde (Mary) Conger of Holmen, and Jeff (Cindy) Conger of Onalaska, Wis.; four grandchildren, Samuel, Sophie, Austin and Rachael; a sister, Elaine Vollbrecht of Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; and two brothers, Alfred Schumacher of Hartford, Wis., and Robert Schumacher of Oostburg, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; her parents; her son, Myron; and a brother, Clarence.
A private family memorial service will be held at Dickinson Family Funeral Home. The Rev. Janet Wollam will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred.
Mae B. North
BOSCOBEL, Wis. Mae B. North, 92, of Boscobel died Thursday May 1, 2008, at Boscobel Area Health Care, Boscobel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kendall Funeral Home, Boscobel. Burial will be in Mook Cemetery, Rolling Ground, Wis. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are perferred.
Alice C. Oldendorf
BLAIR, Wis. Alice C. Oldendorf, 98, of Blair passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
Alice was born July 20, 1909, in Blair to Albert and Clara (Arneson) Tenneson. She married Ernest Hallingstad in 1930, and he died in 1936 from an accidental fire at his place of employment as an auto mechanic. In July 1952, Alice married Arthur Oldendorf Sr. Arthur preceded Alice in death in September 1985. They farmed in Reynolds Coulee until they moved to Blair in 1975. Alice had been a resident of the Grand View Care Center in Blair since September 2006.
Alice was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church and its WELCA. She was a great quilter and made hundreds of quilts for the Lutheran World Relief quilt project. Alice also worked as a store clerk and enjoyed sewing.
Alice is survived by three stepchildren, Annette of Eau Claire, Wis., Arthur Jr. (Mary) of Blair, and Harlan (Connie) of West Salem, Wis.; one grandson, Joe (Robin) Tuka of Dowogiac, Mich.; five stepgrandchildren, Jay (Regina) Oldendorf of Blair, Emily (Dennis) Wilkinson of Osseo, Wis., Matthew Oldendorf of Blair, Kris (Jeff) Busse of Melrose, Wis., and Dale (Nichol) Oldendorf, West Salem; one great-grandson, Ian Tuka of Dowogiac; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren, Anthony and Ryan Oldendorf, Amara and Connor Wilkinson, Hunter Busse and Isaac and Joseph Oldendorf. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Adeline Tenneson of La Crosse, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Alice was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois (Hallingstad) Tuka; brothers, Amos, James and Victor (who died in infancy); one sister, Orrie; and one stepgrandson, Christopher Oldendorf.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery, both in Blair.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Jack Funeral Home in Blair, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
Dolores A. Robinson
LA CRESCENT, Minn. Dolores A. Robinson, 85, of La Crescent died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
She was born in St. Joseph, Mo., on Oct. 27, 1922, to Russell C. and Mary A. (Barrett ) Maple. She married Corlis W. Robinson Jr. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph on May 28, 1949. She was very active in her parish family at the Church of the Crucifixion, La Crescent, serving as treasurer for the CCCW and past eucharistic minister. She was a member of Crucifixion Parish Council and had served on the Crucifixion School Board. She was a member of the St. Germaine Circle for over 50 years and was active in the first Community Chest Drive in La Crosse. She enjoyed going on walks and going to daily Mass.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 58 years, Corlis; three daughters, Jeanne (Aaron Koskelo) Robinson of Los Alamos, N.M., Mary Ellen (John) Ahlgrimm of Appleton, Wis., and Kathleen (Patrick) Killian of DeForest, Wis.; four sons, Michael (Diane Parisi) Robinson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Stephen (Andrea) Robinson of La Crescent, John (Cecelia) Robinson of Clancy, Mont., and Mark (Sharon) Robinson of Galesville, Wis.; 18 grandchildren; and two sisters, Maxine Hubbell of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Betty (Al) Brown of Urich, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 5, at Church of the Crucifixion in La Crescent. Monsignor Donald W. Grubisch will officiate. Burial will be in Crucifixion Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorials may be directed to either the Crucifixion School or the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice Program.

GALESVILLE, Wis. Norman J. Schein, 83, of Galesville died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Marinuka Manor, Galesville. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 515 McHugh Road, Holmen, Wis. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of services Sunday at the funeral home. Eric F. Stutz
BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. Jackson County Judge-elect Eric F. Stutz, 63, of Black River Falls died Friday, May 2, 2008, in Black River Memorial Hospital, Black River Falls, under the care of Black River Hospice with his family at his side.
Eric Francis Stutz was born on Dec. 10, 1944, in Aurora, Ill., to Roger D. and Alice (Clark) Stutz. He was raised in Aurora and graduated from Aurora East High School. He later graduated from Beloit (Wis.) College and then from the University of Wisconsin- Madison law school.
In 1970, he became a member of the law firm of Sherman, Pizzini and Stutz of Black River Falls, which later became Sherman, Stutz and Lister. In 1984, he and attorney Tom Lister formed a law partnership known as Stutz and Lister. He was elected Jackson County judge on April 1, 2008.
Eric married Joyce Heim Amundsen on Jan. 23, 1988, in Black River Falls. He loved his family dearly and was deeply concerned for both his family and his clients.
His hobbies included golfing and gardening. His sense of humor and love of laughter were infectious to everyone around him.
Eric was a member of the Tri-County Bar Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association and the Skyline Golf Course of Black River Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; children, Kristin M. (Rob Stapel) Stutz of Black River Falls and Gregory M. (Andrea Heuer) Stutz of Madison; stepchildren, Timothy J. (Tammy) Amundsen of Waunakee, Wis., Jason A. Amundsen of Minneapolis, and William G. (Meg) Amundsen of Kansas City, Kan.; grandchildren, Keagan R. Stutz, Heuer F. Stutz, Lindsey R. Stapel, Danielle B. Amundsen, Nicole A. Amundsen and “Baby Girl” Amundsen; and a brother, Alan (Martha) Stutz of Springfield, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pat; and a brother, Rodger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Black River Falls. The Rev. Robert Streveler will officiate.
Family and friends are invited for visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at St. Joseph’s Church. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the church.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Live Strong Foundation.
