National primary
On Saturday morning, I heard on television that super delegates are going to be appointed to choose the Democratic nominee.
Previously, I expressed my concerns to Sen. Herb Kohl about election reform and he informed me that S804, the Count Every Vote Act was introduced by Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., on March 7, 2007. This legislation would amend the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to reaffirm the right of each American to have an equal opportunity to vote and have that vote counted.
The Count Every Vote Act was referred to the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration. Making election day a national holiday is a suggestion in the bill. For more information on this, go to the Internet.
The people of Michigan and Florida are being told that their delegates cannot be seated because they held their primaries too early, but the hierarchy can appoint delegates at the last minute to be seated.
Texans can vote in a primary during the day and again at night in caucus. Enough is enough! In a national election, everyone should vote the same day with the same rules. If you agree with me, please send a copy of this to your representatives in Congress and encourage your friends to do the same.
One of the perks of being an American is our right to vote, and the politicians have certainly messed that up. This is not a party, race, religion, age or gender issue. It should be the concern of every voting citizen.
