Officer slightly hurt during stolen car chase in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Plymouth police officer suffered minor injuries during a chase that ended when a stolen car crashed in south Minneapolis.

The chase started around 2 p.m. in Plymouth and reached speeds of up to 100 miles an hour.

The stolen SUV careened the wrong way into one-way traffic on Park Avenue in south Minneapolis, tearing up residents’ yards for a block before it was rammed by Plymouth squad cars.

Both the officer and a passenger in the suspect car were taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale for minor injuries. Nobody else was hurt. A Plymouth police car was damaged during the pursuit.

As the suspect was being placed in a squad car, he claimed he was innocent and the victim of police brutality.
