Keep the star/cross on Holmen hill

This is just a little more information about the star on the hill in Holmen. My father was also involved in the construction of this landmark. It was a joint effort, as I recall, between the Lions Club and the Legion, again when times and issues were so much simpler.

Perhaps those who find the star offensive should look the other way because the reason for this landmark showed the community as one that was proud of it’s heritage and beliefs.

It was in the mid-1980s that the Holmen Lioness Club raised the money to erect the flag pole also located on that hill. I was proud to be co-chairwoman of the committee that raised the money for the construction of this patriotic symbol for the village.

These are true American symbols, and we should all be proud to be a part of a village that displays and promotes these things in these times that are unsettled in other parts of our world.
