PAUL — City officials in St. Paul are thinking about using the skyways for advertising revenue during the Republican National Convention. St. Paul marketing director Erin Dady says officials are exploring the possibility of installing temporary “shrink wrap” on the skyways. Those type of ads are already seen on Metro Transit buses and light rail trains. Revenue from the ads could be used to pay for kiosks to help people navigate the skyways. But advertising has been a sensitive issue in St. Paul — the city already bans billboards and limits temporary banners that appear on skyways or streetlights. Dady says the city is talking with potential advertisers before going ahead with the plan. The convention runs September 1-4 in downtown St. Paul.
