Strudthoff, superintendent of schools in Postville, Iowa, for the past nine years, will succeed Michael Davis, who retires June 30.
Strudthoff started his education career as a middle school science teacher and coach and also has been a middle and high school principal.
Strudthoff is on the Iowa High School Girl’s Athletic Union’s Board of Directors, and while serving as a middle school principal, was named executive director of the Iowa Association of Middle Level Educators. He has been appointed to two governors’ task forces and is on the advisory board of the Iowa Association of School Boards.
Strudthoff received his bachelor and master of science degrees from Northwest Missouri State University and earned his district administrator’s certification from the University of Northern Iowa.
His wife, Denise, is a media specialist for the Prairie du Chien (Wis.) School District.
