Published - Sunday, May 18, 2008 Police: Teen who hit tree was drunk An underage drinker was arrested after driving a car into a tree outside the La Crosse Police Department early Saturday morning, according to a police report. The 17-year-old female driver and two passengers had been drinking alcohol in Copeland and Riverside parks, according to the report. At about 3:45 a.m., the car was northbound on Fourth Street when it struck a tree about 100 feet south of the police station, according to the report. A male passenger fled on foot but was apprehended by police. The three sustained minor injuries, and the driver, whose preliminary breath test indicated a 0.126 percent blood-alcohol concentration, was admitted to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. She was arrested for causing injury while operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, according to the report.
