Published - Monday, May 19, 2008 Two dead in motorcycle crashes Two motorcyclists died Saturday in separate crashes in Vernon and Crawford counties. Just before 11 a.m. Saturday, 65-year-old Dale Wahlstrom of Iron Mountain, Mich., lost control of his motorcycle on a curve on Hwy. 33 east of Ontario, Wis., according to a statement from Vernon County Sheriff Gene Cary. Wahlstrom slid into the eastbound lane and hit an oncoming car. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro, where he was pronounced dead. The occupants of the car driven by Daniel Coggon, 27, of La Farge, Wis., were not injured. Just before 4 p.m. Saturday, 60-year-old William R. Norman of La Crosse was westbound on Hwy. 82, two miles west of Hwy. 35 in Freeman Township, according to a statement from Crawford County Sheriff Jerry Moran. Norman was passing on the left side when he lost control of his Honda Goldwing and started to slide — 180 feet on the road and 140 feet off the road — and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
