Published - Tuesday, May 20, 2008 Letter carriers food drive collects more food than last year Letter carriers from Local Branch 59 collected 86,147 pounds of food in their annual food drive on May 10, said Deb Reberry, a letter carrier and the food coordinator for the branch, during a press conference today at the La Crosse post office, 425 State St. That’s about 20,000 pounds more than they collected last year, Reberry said. The food, which people leave in bags for letter carriers to pick up with the mail, will go to food pantries in La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon and Houston counties. This year’s was the 15th annual event in the area. The U.S. Postal Service, the United Way, the AFL-CIO and Campbell's Soup sponsor the national food drive.
