That’s about 20,000 pounds more than they collected last year, Reberry said.
The food, which people leave in bags for letter carriers to pick up with the mail, will go to food pantries in La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon and Houston counties.
This year’s was the 15th annual event in the area.
The U.S. Postal Service, the United Way, the AFL-CIO and Campbell's Soup sponsor the national food drive.
