Published - Wednesday, May 21, 2008 Charter customers affected by network outage High-speed Internet customers of Charter Communications in Wisconsin, northern Illinois and southeastern Minnesota are affected by a fiber optic network outage, the company said. Some Charter customers may experience slow speeds, intermittent access problems or be without Internet service altogether. The outage originated with a third-party network provider that has sustained damage to its network and began about 8 a.m. today. Repairs are under way to re-establish Internet services, but Charter did not provide an estimate when the problems would be fixed. Video and telephone services provided by Charter are not affected by this outage.
