Gays Mills man, 22, dies in one-car accident

.
GAYS MILLS, Wis. — A 22-year-old man died after being ejected from his car in an accident early Saturday morning in Gays Mills.

Justin J. Peterson of Gays Mills lost control of his Ford Escort while driving east on Hwy. 171 near Stevenson Road, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department. The vehicle crossed the centerline, struck a guardrail, crossed the centerline again, then struck an embankment before rolling several times and coming to rest on its wheels.
Peterson, a De Soto High School graduate, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident, reported at 1:50 a.m., remains under investigation. Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash, according to a sheriff’s department press release.

" It's sad that another young person has lost their life. The key phrase in the story: "died after being ejected from his car..." How many young people feel they are immortal, so they never wear a seatbelt because they believe they will never be in a serious accident. Hopefully some will hear of this story and make a wise decision to wear their seatbelt which could save their lives in a rollover accident which should be survivable if you are belted and stay in your vehicle. NASCAR drivers know this. "
