Powerball drawing to move to Florida

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Powerball drawings will move to Florida next year after 20 years in Iowa.

Lottery officials say that moving the twice-weekly drawing is part of a deal to bring Florida into the multi-state game.

They say Florida brings with it about 19 million potential players, and the jackpot could grow more quickly.

Powerball may undergo some changes in coming months, but officials aren’t releasing details.

Powerball is played in 29 states including Minnesota, as well as the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
