Police said they recovered the body about 8 a.m. Friday after receiving a call from a relative in Canada concerned about the victim's safety.
Capt. Brian Winters said the death seems to have been caused by a physical assault, but he declined to give further details. The death is being treated as a homicide.
A relative of the man told police the son would be a likely suspect. The son was arrested without incident about 9 a.m. on the Mayo Clinic campus.
Winters said the two men were in Rochester in connection with medical treatment, but he would not say who was being treated for what.
Winters also said he had no specific information about where they lived in Canada.
