Police Lt. Victor Beecher said officers got a report about 4 p.m. Thursday that the baby had been found in the vehicle and wasn't breathing.
An initial investigation indicated the child was left in the vehicle for several hours, he said.
The baby's name and other information weren't immediately available.
In June 2005, 2-year-old Asia Jones died when left all day in a day care van in Milwaukee. No one was ever charged in the case. Prosecutors said the state had no law to cover such an accident when a driver simply forgot the girl was left strapped in her seat.
