About the book: The conflict unfolds as Luke Tanner, a 30-something ballplayer helping to build a new baseball field, discovers the remains of an ancient American Indian burial ground, setting off a chain reaction. Part baseball book, part mystery, part love story, part search for identity, and part social battle between small-minded townspeople and American Indians, this book leads the reader on a complex journey that begins with baseball and ends with spirituality.

About the author: Meissner grew up in Baraboo, Wis., and attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The novel is set in the mythical town of Clearwater, Wis., which is a thinly disguised Baraboo and Wisconsin Dells area.
