Published - Friday, August 08, 2008 Update: Bicyclist injured after colliding with vehicle SPARTA, Wis. — A Sparta, Wis., man remains in serious condition after his bicycle collided with a car in Sparta Thursday. Robert Wellner, 56, was injured about 3:39 p.m. Thursday when the bike he was riding was stuck by a car being driven by 38-year-old Kyle Seubert, an off-duty Sparta police officer, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. According to preliminary reports, the car and the bike were both northbound on Hwy 27. As the auto was passing, Wellner made an abrupt left turn into the path of the car. Wellner was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Sparta and later transferred to Franciscan Skemp Medical Center. Seubert was not injured.
