Former Republican Gov. Tommy Thompson said he thinks the race will be close, but he likes John McCain's chances to carry the state by securing conservative votes in the Fox Valley and northern Wisconsin.
The two politicians offered their views on the presidential race during separate conference calls Thursday.
Thompson said whichever candidate is better able to motivate his base and get voters to the polls will win.
Doyle said if young voters come out in large numbers for Obama, he could walk away with the state in a landslide.
