Gard raised $168,000, compared with just $60,000 for Kagen. The reports filed by candidates Thursday cover July 1 to Aug. 20.
Kagen still has more cash on hand, reporting $826,000 compared with Gard's $651,000.
The two are squaring off in Wisconsin's 8th Congressional District. Kagen defeated Gard to win the seat two years ago. He replaced Republican Rep. Mark Green, who mounted an unsuccessful bid for governor.
