TV meteorologist accused of groping daughter

.
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A television meteorologist in Madison has been charged with incest after an alleged incident with his 7-year-old daughter.

WISC-TV morning weatherman Jeff Smith is accused of putting his hand down his daughter’s pajama bottoms while she slept between him and his wife at their Prairie du Sac home on Nov. 11, 2007.
Smith’s attorney, Stephen Eisenberg, says the allegations are untrue and Smith has a normal, loving relationship with his daughter.

WISC-TV News Director Colin Benedict says Smith has been suspended pending an investigation.

Smith and his wife were in the midst of divorce proceedings when the allegations arose.

He was charged Thursday with the felony and is due back in court Jan. 7.

" This allegedly happened over a year ago and it now comes out just when they're going through a divorce. Sounds VERY fishy to me. Sounds like she wants to crucify him in the worst way. "

" I too hope it isn't true. If it was made up I hope they nail the ex for obstructing and filing a false report. I fear there is more of this going on than people know or want to admit (both real events unreported and false reports). The system shows a lot of zeal in prosecuting these cases with minimal evidence. However, if he did do it I hope he dies a slow painful death from the case of syphilis that he contracts in prison from his "cell mate" named Bubba. "

" oh give me a break. what was he doing sleeping in his wifes bed when they are in the middle of a divorce. sounds to me like mom is looking for a way to hang dad, probably for custody reasons. I don't even know this guy but the story already sounds fishy to me. I hope you are innocent on this one jeff. "
