Dorothy Thomack
Dorothy Thomack, 94, of La Crosse passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at St. Joseph Rehab Center, La Crosse.
She was born in La Crosse on May 9, 1914, to August and Dorothy Witt. She married Alvin Thiele and he preceded her in death after 15 years of marriage. She later married Myron Nolop and he preceded her in death after 16 years of marriage. Ernst Thomack, a widower, came into her life, and they enjoyed 41/2 years together before he passed away.
Dorothy had many hobbies, including dancing, knitting, crocheting, sewing, fishing, playing cards and working puzzles.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Dennis (Mary) Thiele; five grandchildren, Betsy (Josh) Knutson, Susan (Don) Krzewinski, Katie (Matt) Wallace, Joan (Jim) Harrigar and June (Bill) Zastrow; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jenna, Olivia, Tyler, Kaden, Kristie, Kurt, Jenny and Cindy; one great-great-grandchild, Logan; a nephew, Steve (Amy) Witt and their children, Paige and Carter; a brother, Robert Witt; and a host of friends.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Jean Landcraft Butterbaugh and June Nolop; a grandson, John Landcraft; and a brother, George Witt.
In accordance to Dorothy’s wish, she is to be cremated and buried next to Alvin Thiele. A private graveside service will be held on Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Rehab Center for the wonderful care given to Dorothy.

Dorothy Ann Wickus
Dorothy Ann Wickus, 72, of La Crosse died on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on Nov. 29, 1935, in Adams, Wis., to John W. and Genevieve (Ottosen) Bidar. Dorothy graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in the class of 1953. She married Russell Wickus on Dec. 23, 1955, in Friendship, Wis.
Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed doing things with and for her family. One of her greatest joys was having family gatherings and visits every summer by her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Russell; two sons, Scott (Mary Jo) Wickus of Honeoye Falls, N.Y., and Jeff (Patti) Wickus of Ankeny, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her mother, Genevieve of La Crosse; and a sister, Sondra (Jack) Seitz of Salem, Ark. She was preceded in death by her father, John.
At her request there will be no visitation or funeral. A private graveside service will be held at Mount Repose Cemetery in Friendship at a later date. The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in Dorothy’s memory. Helen M. Stearns
STODDARD — Helen M. Stearns, 97, of Stoddard died on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center, La Crosse.
She was born on Jan. 27, 1911, in Victory to John and Antonette (Nelson) Johnson. She married Archie Stearns in Mason City, Iowa, on Oct. 1, 1930. Archie preceded her in death in September 1981.
Helen and Archie had one son who died soon after birth. Helen is survived by one daughter, Janet Stearns of Stoddard; one granddaughter, Jaynne Lepke of Stoddard; two great-grandchildren, Jancyn and Jenner Lepke, both of Stoddard; a very special niece, Marie Helgerson; and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and their infant son, Helen was also preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard and Milford “Tony” Johnson; sisters, Miranda (Alva) Wetterlin and Jenny, Muriel and Irene Johnson; and a very special nephew, Orville Helgerson.
Helen was a longtime member of Stoddard United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. The Rev. Lewis Lebakken will officiate. Burial will follow in Victory Cemetery, Victory. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m., and again on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial gifts may be given to Stoddard United Methodist Church Building Fund.

HIXTON — Trevor L. Skaar, 26, of Hixton died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Black River Memorial Hospital, Black River Falls.
