It’s exciting for me to see athletes I watched as high schoolers go on to compete at the NCAA Division I level and show up on television. It’s a select list that includes former Milwaukee Tech sprinter turned Wisconsin Badgers/Minnesota Vikings running back Michael Bennett and former Aquinas basketball standout Scott Christopherson, who transferred to Iowa State from Marquette after last season.

But tonight, I’ll be looking for Logan graduate turned UW-Milwaukee women’s basketball player Danielle Jorgenson on the tube. The Panthers’ game against Wisconsin will be televised on the Big Ten Network. Considering Jorgenson, a freshman center, has earned a spot in Milwaukee’s starting lineup, she could get significant air time.
I enjoyed watching Jorgenson during her four-year run at Logan because she’s one of the best girls basketball players ever to come out of this area. And I know it will be just as fun for me to watch her play tonight on television on a big stage.
