" It's about time this eyesore meets the wrecking ball! Community renewal begins with getting rid of all the dive properties and hushing away the lower class. La Crosse needs to elect a mayor how will clean up the neighborhoods and get rid of the riff-raff! "

" As for one bad situation. Some time ago I was downsized from my job shortly after purchasing a new house with a new baby on the way. NOT ONCE did I consider turning to running drugs, guns, or sitting on my A$$ and collecting unemployment and welfare. I didn't even consider renting out the spare bedroom to "cousin Tyrone" and his mobile meth lab. As the new minority in the US (white male) I had difficulty finding work so I started my own business and now am very successful.
It's NOT about the bad situation, it's about the choices made by the person that it happens to. "

" Jackson, I usually agree with your posts but sorry, not on this one.
Exactly who do you think is getting rich? Many of the residents in the rentals NEVER pay rent. They trash the place and by the time the owner is able to jump through the hoops to evict them they've already moved out and onto the next dump. Are there bad landlords? Definitely, but there are more BAD renters. Some of the actual homeowner residents in the area are unfortunate to have to live there as that is all they can afford. As for the drama club, I know people that feel trapped in their own homes because of what is going on outside them and the LAX PD refuses to respond. "

" Dumas is fitting for you! That area is not near as bad as the drama club would like to think and if you knew anything about city demographics you would know that those people have to live somewhere and better in a concentrated area then displaced to infect a whole city and when I say that im talking about a small percentage that are allowed to exist because some certain slum lords are profiteering from this activity. Theres your real problem, its called CORRUPTION and the deep pockets behind it would blow your mind.
The rich and wealthy profit from the poor thats how it has always been and will always be.Your just a bad situation away like the rest of the loud mouths from joining them. I suggest you spend your time counting your blessings that its not you its happening to. "

" Why don't we just raze all the buildings, except Gundersen Lutheran, WTC, Viterbo, UW-L, City/County/State buildings and Franciscan-Skemp, and then we can all live in our cars. Then we could rent space from one of the Biznocrats, which would be a lot cheaper than a mortgage, and our property taxes, payable in the form of quarters in a parking meter, could pay for that north-south corridor we've all been dreaming of. Student housing would be much easier to find this way, too. And we could get rid of all that crap we don't really want that our relatives give us for Christmas or tie it to the outsides of our cars to give them that homey lived in look. "

" Exactly what would you propose fining them for? And if you did come up with a valid reason, then everyone else that owns property in that cesspool area should get the same treatment and fines. If the city inspection department did their jobs then I'd be willing to bet 2/3 of the properties in that area would be uninhabitable. Problem is, the inspection department, centurytel workers, pizza delivery persons, and even the police are afraid to even venture out into the area. Raze about a 2 mile square area and let the scum move to another city and take their drugs and dogs with them. "

" If the house was "uninhabitable", who owns it that let it get into such sad shape? GL should be paying fines for letting property that they own fall into disrepair. "
