Nine students and three staff members were among thousands of tourists stranded when protesters occupied two airports in Bangkok last week. They had been on a three-week exchange program.
Lodi High School principal Laura Love said the students and staff were never in harm's way. She said they were about 75 miles southeast of Bangkok when the protests started.
The group now plans to fly from Phuket to Singapore on Friday, then from Tokyo to Chicago on Saturday and return to Lodi late Sunday.
Love said she's been in constant contact with the group. She said they've been "treated like royalty" and have not seen any violence.
