Geisler, who died Monday at the age of 95, worked as a surgical and emergency room nurse and administrator at Franciscan Skemp’s Sparta hospital for 25 years.
She was the hospital’s administrator for 11 years.
Sister Evelyn Schlosser, who worked in the finance department at the Sparta hospital, said Geisler brought a solid nursing perspective to her job as administrator.
“She was a tremendous nurse and wonderful administrator,” Schlosser said. “She could do everything, and if the hospital needed a night nurse, she would stay there all night.”
Geisler was respected by hospital staff and patients alike, she said.
“She was very compassionate and understanding,” Schlosser said. “She had a special gift of knowing how to run things, and you’d do anything for her.
“We had a lot of good times,” she said. “She loved to fish, and we’d take time off to fish at the cranberry bogs.”
Geisler also was a surgical nurse at St. Francis Hospital for eight years. She was assistant director of nursing at St. Francis School of Nursing for 10 years. She professed her vows with the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration 74 years ago.
A burial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today at Mary of the Angels Chapel.
