Meanwhile, his victims — the ones he didn’t kill —are doing everything they can just to live healthy, happy, normal lives. Luckily, 22 of those scarred and brutalized dogs have gotten help from the people at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in southern Utah.
When they arrived at “Dogtown,” as it is often called, most of them were shy and many of them were afraid of the world. They were psychologically and emotionally damaged from being forced to fight by the people they just wanted to please.
They had to be taught how to play and how to relax.
In time, their true personalities emerged.
Now, Shadow loves visitors and going on walks. Willie is a clown whose favorite toy is also his food dish. Ray loves massages and soft, comfy beds.
While NFL fans and employees are wondering about Michael Vick’s fate after prison, it’s heartening to know his victims finally are enjoying a dog’s life.
