The Progressive Change Campaign Committee announced today it has raised $100,000 for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin's effort to unseat Gov. Scott Walker in Tuesday's recall election.
The move comes in response to earlier reports that state party officials were miffed at a lack of financial support from the Democratic National Committee.
The PCCC says it donated the $6,000 maximum allowed to both the DPW and the State Senate Democratic Committee; meanwhile, its members donated another $88,000 through its online clearinghouse, ActBlue.
In a prepared statement, PCCC co-founder Adam Green said:
"The Wisconsin recall is a top national priority for progressives -- and it should be for the national Democratic Party. When we heard that the Democratic National Committee wasn’t giving Wisconsin Democrats the resources needed to get out the vote, the PCCC made a strategic decision to do less fundraising for our own Wisconsin TV ads and instead focus our attention on righting the DNC’s wrong.”
