Hopefully your New Year’s Resolutions are still holding strong a few weeks into the new year now!

La Crosse County Library with locations in Bangor, Campbell, Holmen, Onalaska and West Salem has made a resolution too. We normally manage to offer some pretty great programming for children and teens throughout the calendar year but I admit that we don’t do the best job with programming for adults so our 2018 resolution is to expand those services.

Over the last decade we’ve run an annual winter reading program for adults. We can’t really count this one as expanded but we have been able to up our game this year for our grand prizes. Our Hot Reads for Cold Nights program annually offers readers and audio listeners aged 16 years and older a chance to get an incentive for reading and even enter a grand prize drawing. All it takes is completing three books in print or on audio to participate. Reading logs are now available at all five locations and through Wednesday, Feb. 28, readers and listeners who complete their log can pick from some little prizes and then enter to win our grand prizes.

This year, with the sponsorship of the La Crosse County Library Employees’ Jeans Day fund, our grand prize package includes a $50 Wal-Mart gift card. You’re reading and listening anyway, why not try your luck at a prize! For those not so motivated by trinkets, you can also choose to have a book added to our collection in your honor or in honor or memory of someone of your choosing. Talk with any La Crosse County Library Staff member for more information about this program or to pick-up a reading log.

Our expanded adult programming is getting started with the help of the West Salem Friends. They will kick-off their inaugural feature film movie series on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 6:30pm with a feature film on the big screen and free popcorn! They will continue their movie series on select Wednesday nights through April. Pick up a list of what they’ll be showing or check-out our website at lacrossecountylibrary.org.

Our Friends of the Onalaska Library will also continue their feature film series later this winter. Watch for more information on dates and movies soon!

Speaking of Onalaska, we are excited to announce that the The Floyde Sias Trust will be sponsoring an adult program series throughout 2018. Our Fun with Floyde series will bring guest speakers and special events to our Onalaska location throughout 2018 so watch for more information to come soon!

Our La Crosse County Library staff is also looking at other programming opportunities including hands on help with Overdrive digital services and other library service basics.

Find us on Facebook and watch our website for the latest information on upcoming programming for library users of all ages! Help us make 2018 a great year and keep us on track to hold to our resolutions!

For more information about La Crosse County Library or to share your programming requests stop by your nearest location in Bangor, Campbell, Holmen, Onalaska or West Salem or call our Administrative Center in Holmen at 399-3390.
