The Bangor/Rockland Merrimakers LLC will hold their annual bazaar from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Bangor American Legion clubhouse.
Homemade soups including chicken noodle with dumplings, bacon cheeseburger soup and cheese broccoli soup along with pulled chicken sandwiches will be available at the event. Complementary hot coffee will be served and baked goods and crafts will be on sale. There will also be a raffle and breakfast will be served starting at 9 a.m. with lunch running from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Originally formed in 1997, the Bangor/Rockland Merrimakers LLC primarily focuses on raising money and returning it back to community organizations and families in need. The organization has raised over $42,000 for local causes since its inception, a news release said, and offers a $500 scholarship annually to a graduating senior from Bangor High School.
The group has chosen “Providing Warmth” as its 20th anniversary celebration theme and has been meeting monthly to cut out and construct mittens from sweaters and fleece fabric. The news release said the group has reached its goal of making over 20 pairs of sweater mittens that will be for sale at the bazaar. Over 50 pairs of fleece mittens made by the group will be given to Bangor area schools for children in need of warmth throughout the winter.
