HAWKS n Cesarina Novarese, 56, Olive Branch, passed away May 31, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Southaven after a valiant battle with cancer. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Olive Branch. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. June 3 at Memphis Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, Memphis. Born on Feb. 6, 1952, in Memphis, graduate of Bishop Byrne High School, helped manage the family business Poplar Tunes Record Shops, and co-founded the Super Suppers franchise in Northern Mississippi. Survived by husband of 38 years, James Hawks; daughter, Lelania McCown (Michael), Olive Branch; brothers, John T. Novarese (Amy), Eads; and Mark Novarese, Memphis; sister, Michelle Novarese, Southaven; uncle, Michael Novarese, Los Angeles, Calif.; aunt, Kay Novarese, Memphis; mother-in-law, Jean L. Hawks, Southaven; sisters-in-law, Janet Estridge (David), Olive Branch; and Jean Russell (Ron), Rosemark, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Richard W. Decorated World War II veteran, member of St. James Catholic Church, charter member of Kimberly Clark Credit Union, Boy Scout leader, member and president of the Local International Brotherhood of Paperworkers Union, and retired maintenance mechanic of 38 years for Kimberly Clark. Retired senior agent with Allstate Insurance Company after a career spanning 40 years, graduate of Cumberland Law School, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Survived by wife of 50 years, Betty Howard; sons, Harry and John, Memphis; and James, Rowlett, Texas; daughter, Beth McCammon, Hernando; and grandchildren, Tyler Howard, Danielle Howard, Haley McCammon and Cody McCammon. Member of Gracewood Baptist Church, Southaven, served as deacon and also director of ushers, serving on grounds upkeep and building committees, served in Brotherhood and attended several out of state mission trips helping build and repair churches, retired from Consolidated Freightways after 21 years of work, and member of Teamsters for 27 years.
