The hospital finds it necessary to increase prices in order to continue providing quality care, to invest in new
services, and to replace equipment and technology. Some government payers, such as the state Medicaid
program, reimburse the hospital at a lower level than the actual cost of providing services. In 2017, Mayo Clinic
Health System – Red Cedar will provide $20.7 million of unreimbursed care to Medicaid beneficiaries. Also
during 2017, the hospital will provide $2.2 million in charity care as part of our non-profit mission.
