SPRING GREEN, Wis. — William Shakespeare’s “Richard III” recently opened at the American Players Theatre.
James Ridge plays Richard III this time around and James De Vita directs the play, which runs through Sept. 28. The play also features Tracy Michelle Arnold, Colleen Madden, Sarah Day and David Daniel.
“Richard III” is a history play which depicts the Machiavellian rise to power and subsequent short reign of Richard III of England.
British dramatist David Hare’s “Skylight” recently opened in the indoor Touchstone Theatre with a run through Oct. 20. “Skylight” opened at the Royal National Theatre in 1995 and won the Laurence Olivier Award for best new play. It also was nominated for a 1997 Tony Award on Broadway.
The play is about two former lovers reconnecting, disconnecting and trying to confront their troubled past in order to face the future. Brian Mani and Greta Wohlrabe star in the APT production.
“Richard III” and “Skylight” run in repertory with “Twelfth Night,” “The Royal Family” and “Heroes.” The remaining four productions open in August, including the other two main stage plays, Shakespeare’s “Troilus and Cressida” and “The Admirable Crichton.” “In Acting Shakespeare” and “Shakespeare’s Will” will be staged in the Touchstone in mid and late August.
