Houston County Care and Share is in its 30th season of giving to less fortunate families in Houston County and is asking for support.
The group's goal is for every child in Houston County to have a nice Christmas and they are collecting monetary donations and gifts.
"There is a definite need in our county for families who, due to financial difficulties, health problems, loss of job or other reasons, need a little extra help at Christmas," a news release from Care and Share said.
"We have partnered with Toys for Tots the past couple of years but we always need more gift items and gift cards. We also like to purchase a grocery certificate for each family at their local grocery store to help with Christmas dinner if our funds allow."
In 2016, the group served 251 households, including 361 children and 97 elderly or disabled people.
Monetary donations may be sent to Houston County Care & Share, 138 East Main St., Caledonia, MN 55921.
Most banks and churches in the county also collect items for Care & Share. P lease call Jill Hahn at 507-724-3157 for more information..
