The La Crescent Public Library will host a special program called “Minnesota in the Great War,” starting at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16.

Arn Kind, of Historical Experiences, Inc., will deliver an “exciting living history” presentation that “entertains and educates” about World War I at the event, according to a news release.

The presentation will include discussion of Minnesota’s contribution to the war. Over 118,000 Minnesotans served during World War I, both in the military and in volunteer organizations.

Kind also will discuss the new technologies that were used in the war, such as the tank, the airplane, the submarine and the use of gas, which made the air, the sea and the battlefields of World War I extremely lethal.

The program has been funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
