HOKAH -- Helen Ann Schnedecker, 91, of Hokah died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Valley View Health Care and Rehab in Houston, Minn.
She was born March 5, 1926, to Paul and Josephine (Wurzel) Miller. Helen married Paul J. Schnedecker Oct. 15, 1946, in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Hokah. She was a life-long member and supporter of St. Peter’s Parish and St. Peter’s Altar Society.
Helen farmed alongside her husband, Paul, in rural Hokah. She was dedicated to the land they farmed, all living animals, and her faith in God. She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit, and her heartwarming smile.
Helen is survived by a niece, Evelyn (Dave) Adams of Bonita, California; a nephew, Joe Harer of Brownsville, Minn.; a brother-in-law, Raymond Happel of Hokah; and close family friends and caregivers, Mike and Teresa Ross and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; an infant daughter; a sister, Mary Ann Happel; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Harold) Harer; and a niece-in-law, Wendy Harer.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 10, at St. Petr’s Catholic Church, Hokah. The Rev. Pratap Reddy Salibindla officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Convent Cemetery. Friends called from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church.
