Crucifixion Elementary School’s First Lego League team competed at the Minnesota State Lego League competition in St. Paul on Feb. 24 and came home with a trophy.

The team finished second in the Inspirational Category, which is awarded to the team that best demonstrates the spirit of Lego league by extraordinary enthusiasm, support, and encouragement of fellow teams. The Crucifixion team is called S.O.A.P (Students Organized Against Pollution) and earlier this year participated and advanced from the regional competition in Rochester and the sectional competition in Minneapolis. Sixty-five teams advanced to state competition out of the 640 teams from Minnesota.

S.O.A.P made school history by receiving a call back to perform their creative skit about their project, which was about rain barrels and hydroponic gardens, said coach Jennifer Mueller. This meant the team was in the top 6 out of 65 teams in the competition and top 6 out of all 640 Lego league teams in the state.
