Society to celebrate $110,000 donation
Houston County Historical Society will hold a reception for Leland and Louise Sundet at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 at the main museum, 104 History Lane, Caledonia.
In 2016 Leland and Louise donated funds to install an elevator in the museum. During a conversation with board member Georgia Rosendahl, Leland asked her what the museum needed. She immediately replied, “an elevator.” They readily agreed to donate $110,000 to purchase and installation of the elevator.
Following the program, the elevator will be dedicated. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited.
Funds available for erosion control
The Root River Soil and Water Conservation District receives annual cost-share funds from the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources to assist landowners with erosion control.
The program, which was originally approved by the Minnesota Legislature in 1977, provides up to 75 percent of the total eligible costs of a practice. Any landowner and land occupier may apply for cost-share assistance.
