Minneapolis radio and podcast artists Todd Melby and Melissa Wray will host a pair of events next week while in Houston County as part of the Citizen-Artists-in-Residence program.
Melby and Wray plan to produce an audio reel of the stories that they collect during their time in Houston County, which will then be made available to the general public. Separately, they’ll also use what they’ve gathered in future personal projects; a possible radio story for Melby, and a podcast series exploring both rural and urban stories for Wray.
A meet and greet event will be 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at the KARST Driftless Guidepost, 111 Cedar St., Houston.
A community workshop will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Caledonia Public Library, 231 Main St. E. At the workshop, they’ll offer tips and prompts to craft a compelling story, in both essay and audio formats.
Both events are free and open to the public. Registration is required for the workshop. Contact residency coordinator Erin Dorbin at email@example.com.
The CAIR program, based just outside of Houston, works in partnership with the Houston Arts Resource Council), a non-profit organization devoted to promoting arts in the region.
