LEWISTON — Tanner Corcoran scored twice in the second half, once off an assist from Alex Boudreau to shepherd the Lancers to their first Three Rivers victory. Boudreau added an insurance goal in the 74th minute for La Crescent. Lancer goalkeeper Mitch Dryden stopped five shots in net.

LA CRESCENT — Ella Baudek finished on a dish from Lola Baudek to score the Lancers’ first goal in their Three Rivers opener against Dover-Eyota, which has played in the last three MSHSL state tournaments. Six minutes into the second half, La Crescent freshman Jayanna Jones took control of the ball off a scrum inside the penalty box and buried her first varsity goal, which proved to be the match-winner for the Lancers. Goalkeeper Maddie Danielson recorded eight saves in net for La Crescent in her stellar varsity debut.

ST. CHARLES — Amanda Iverson scored both goals of the match, while Maddie Danielson kept a clean slate in net for the Lancers en route to the shutout win on the road.

Saturday, Sept. 9

La Crescent 3. Pine Island 0

PINE ISLAND — Iverson finished off an assist from Morgan Loberg in the fifth minute to put the Lancers on the board early. Maddy Tesch scored in the 23rd minute from an assist from Jayanna Jones, and Lola Tesch iced the match for La Crescent with a goal in the 55th minute.

Record: 5-1 overall, 2-0 Three Rivers

Class A ranking: 10th

Crazy Buffalo Invitational

BOYS — The Lancers placed four runners in the front of the pack to win their home invitational with a total of 39 points. Thomas Lechnir (17:26) took fifth, Dane McCormick (17:42) finished seventh, Andrew Jaquette (17:55) crossed in 11th-place and Bryce Duffy (18:02) was the 15th finisher. Matt Steiger outpaced the entire group by nearly 30 seconds for the first-place finish, with a time of 15 minutes, 49 seconds.

Class A ranking: sixth (Matt Steiger ranked second individually)

GIRLS — La Crescent earned a fifth-place finish with 120 points in the girls race, won by Lake City (37 points). The Lancers were led by Katy Steffes (17:47) and Ashley Muenzenberger (18:10), who finished 17th and 18th, respectively.

LA CRESCENT — Komet quarterback Matt Winkle rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns en route to the shutout win over the Lancers. La Crescent senior Brandon Larson was the leading receiver of the game with two receptions for 31 yards.
