Three Rivers Conference Meet

WABASHA — La Crescent senior Matt Steiger won his first conference championship meet, after finishing in the top four in each of the last three years. Steiger crossed the finish line at Coffee Mill Golf Course in the time of 16 minutes, 29 seconds to beat the other 141 runners in the field.

Steiger’s performance helped the Lancers to a second-place team finish with 49 points, only beaten by Plainview-Elgin-Millville (39).

Junior Dane McCormick (18:16) took sixth, senior Cole Fencher placed eighth (18:21) and sophomore Tom Lechnir (18:35) was the 13th finisher.

The La Crescent girls team placed seventh out of 11 teams with a score of 165. Sophomore Katie Steffes (23:16) finished in 26th and freshman Ashley Muenzenberger (23:49) led the way for the Lancers.

PLAINVIEW — The Lancers put up a solid fight in their final regular season game and trailed by one at half, but were held scoreless in the second half to be defeated.

Tristan Fuchsel rushed for 74 yards, while quarterback Zach Todd had another busy game through the air, going 12-for-28 for 152 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Tom Kiesau caught both of Todd’s touchdown passes, finishing with 68 receiving yards.
