Clara was an all-around farm wife. She loved helping her husband do the daily chores and was by his side in farming on their dairy farm for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and canning all she harvested. After they sold the farm, she still continued vegetable gardening and her flowers. Clara was always baking something, if not for any occasion, just for her and Vern to enjoy after supper. After the farm was sold, she kept busy with in-home daycare. She loved being able to have a nurturing part in the lives of the children she cared for.

Clara would sew quilts, clothes for her and her family, and anything else she would be asked to make. She was very skilled at knitting and crocheting as well. Clara would give an afghan to family members for weddings, when babies were born, or any very special occasion. She was a non-stop reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. Clara and Vern enjoyed traveling to almost every state in the country and gathering knick-knacks from all their travels. Most of all Clara loved spending time with her family and granddaughters. They were the light of her world.
