MELROSE — Clayton Leonard Olson, 95, of rural Melrose died Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls.
He was born Feb. 28, 1922, in the town of Irving, Jackson County, Wis., to Oliver and Rose (Hadl) Olson on the Hadl Farm on County Road N. On Dec. 3, 1942, he married Mae Joyce Peterson in Taylor. Mae, his wife of 73 years, preceded him in death Jan. 10, 2016. Clayton lived and farmed his entire life in the Melrose area.
Survivors are his children, Ronald Olson of Melrose, Larry (Marcy) Olson of Solon, Iowa, Cheryl (Larry) Smith of North Fort Myers, Fla., La Monte Olson of Eau Claire, Wis., Stuart (Joni) Olson of Blair; his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Troy (Michele) Olson and their children, Clayton and Caroline of Hopkinton, Iowa, Eric (Marina) Krinsky of Eden Prairie, Minn., Tessa Olson of Eau Claire, Jennifer (Mark) Verheyen and their children, Simon, Elliott and Archer of White Fish Bay, Wis., Kristin (Matt) Elvaker and their children, Madelyn and Kaitlyn of Taylor, Holly (Ryan) Huseboe and their children, Roslyn, Alexandria and Vivica of Galesville; a sister, Myrtle Runningen of Eau Claire; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers and their wives, Archie (Valeria) Olson and Lawrence (Martha) Olson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, from Upper Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, W15595 Cty. Road C, Melrose, with Pastor Benjamin Ahles-Iverson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Zwickey Funeral Homes, Melrose Chapel and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.
