Falls are one of the top causes of death in Jackson County. Black River Memorial Hospital is hosting its Stepping On program from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, March 27 to May 8, to help older adults learn why they fall and how to prevent falls.

This class, which will take place at Lunda Community Center, will include strength and balance exercises, home safety check tips and a medication review.

Participants will see fall prevention products and leave with more strength, better balance and confidence in independent living. This class is ideal for people who walk with or without a cane or walker and are living on their own. Research shows that people who complete this class reduce their chances of falling by 31 percent.
