Jackson County Farm Bureau will host a forum and question-answer session regarding the Elk Reintroduction Project in Jackson County on at 1 p.m. March 8 at the American Legion Hall in Melrose.

The forum will include an overview of the Elk Reintroduction Project, an update on the Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Damage Abatement and Claims Program and a session for farmers and landowners to have questions and concerns addressed regarding the project.

Presenting at the forum will be Scott Roepke, Wildlife Biologist with the DNR, will discuss the status of the elk project and where it is expected to go in future years.

Also presenting at the forum will be Dewayne Snobl, wildlife specialist with USDA-Wildlife Services.

Dewayne will present an overview of the Wildlife Damage Abatement and Claims Program, which elk are covered under, and guidance for farmers and landowners experiencing damage due to elk.
