The Home and Community Education Organization (HCE) is being celebrated by the Jackson County HCE Club during HCE Week Nov. 5-11.

A well-established organization with more than an 80-year existence in Jackson County, HCE is a social organization  that plans fun activities to keep family the core of society including several county-wide round-ups every year.

HCE also provides an opportunity to showcase cultural arts talents since you can submit items every year to a county and state competition in categories like sewing projects, crafts, knitting, crocheting, quilting, photography, jewelry and writing.

The Jackson County organization also has opportunities to help with reading initiatives in Jackson County and international projects where items of need are sent to other countries.

If you, your children or grandchildren are in college or technical school, the Jackson County HCE also sponsors a $500 scholarship every year that can be applied for. Even if students live out of the county or are attending an out-of-the-area learning institution, you being an HCE member means that they are eligible.
