The Mustangs traveled to the Hornets nest last Thursday for a game against two Jackson County teams where the Mustangs ultimately prevailed 69-35.

The Mustangs took a commanding 16-point lead into the first half and never looked back.

Mesa Byom led all scorers for the Mustangs with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting.

Erika Simmons would follow with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting and Emily Herzberg added 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting including two 3-pointers.

For the Hornets, Madison Shramek netted 11 points with 80 percent shooting during the game.

The Mustangs out-rebounded the Hornets 37-27 with Byom getting nine boards and Simmons seven.

Natalie Fischer and Shramek each had six rebounds for the Hornets.

Callette Lockington and Simmons both garnered four assists during the game for the Mustangs. Simmons also led with three steals.
