Future firefighter

Hank Strandberg sits in the driver's seat of a fire truck during Smokey the Bear's visit to Alma Center.

The Alma Center Story Hour featured a visit from Smokey the Bear Saturday.

Smokey invited students to his lodge — also known as the Alma Center Library.

The kids enjoyed a story read by Firefighter Kevin Forsting, treats and gift bags from Smokey and the DNR.

Smokey also took the group on a field trip to the Alma Center Fire Department where they got to sit in the fire truck and meet some of the Alma Center firefighters.

When the parents came to pick their children up, they were invited to support the annual firemen’s cookout.

Story Hour is coordinated by Jeanine Strandberg and supported by the Alma Center Lions Club.
